Range: — Ecuador to Bolivia ( CO, SC) ; terrestrial in humid forests; 300–1100 m.

Ecology: —Rare, known in Bolivia from two collections, neither seen, cited by Fernandes (2015): Fay & Fay 2293 (MO, US) and Sundue 736 (NY). Much more common in Peru.

Notes: —Closely related to M. serratum , but with larger fronds and with more glabrous blades.
