Diagnosis. See Waldock & Lewis (2014: 77), Siriwut et al. (2018: 1018).

Ecology in Martinique. Not very widespread (as, for example, S. subspinipes ), but abundant in man-made habitats (e.g. gardens and cultivated areas), probably due to a later introduction.

Range (after Shelley et al. 2005: 40, Waldock & Lewis 2014: 77, Siriwut et al. 2018: 1017; corrected and supplemented by ZMMU’s data). East ( Somalia, Ethiopia, Yemen) and West Africa; Madagascar; Seychelles; Mauritius; Pakistan / Iran (Makran coast); Israel (Golan Hights); China (with no locality); Taiwan; India ( Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttra Pradesh, Terai); Ceylon (= Sri Lanka); Malaysia (Perak State); Thailand; Laos; Myanma; Cambodia (Rattanakiri Province); Vietnam (Dong Nai and Lam Dong Provinces); Philippines (Manilla; Cebu Island); Australia (with no precise locality); Papua New Guinea (East New Britain Province); Indonesia ( Maluku Islands; Ambon Island; Celebes; Java); Chagos Islands. Introduced into: Caribbean ( Haiti; Martinique), Central America, Venezuela (?), Peru (Loreto Region), USA (Florida).

Remarks. Australian records of R. longipes were discounted by Koch (1985). This Old World species is quite widespread in the tropics; it appears to have been brought into the New World by human activity and not by the natural factors; it seems to be acclimatized well in Martinique.
