Genus Eulaelaps Berlese, 1903
Laelaps (Eulaelaps) Berlese, 1903b: 13 . Laelaps Koch, 1836: 19 , partim.
Hypoaspis Canestrini, 1884: 1569 , partim. Hemilaelaps Hull, 1918: 61 .
Rhinolaelaps Fonseca, 1960: 17 .
Type species: Gamasus stabularis Koch, 1836 .
General morphological diagnosis: Strandtmann & Wharton (1958: 127), Mašán & Fend’a (2010: 71).
Remarks. Eulaelaps is a relatively small mite genus with almost worldwide distribution. Occasionally, it was viewed as a member of the family Laelapidae ( Oudemans, 1913; Baker & Wharton, 1952; Bregetova, 1956a), but most modern workers since Strandtmann & Wharton (1958) classify it within Haemogamasidae . Wen (1976) separated this genus into a subfamily of its own (Eulaelaptinae), but that decision was not accepted by subsequent workers.
