Key to the species of Augerella View in CoL View at ENA

In Vietnam, the Pimplinae fauna is poorly known. Only a few publications have mentioned Vietnamese pimplines, e.g., Townes et al. (1961), Townes and Chiu (1970), Gupta (1962), Gupta and Tikar (1976). The diversity and distribution of Pimplinae in the central region and upland areas is particularly unknown. The newly recorded species, Augerella orientalis , was found in different habitat types from the North to the South. However the host of this species remains unknown. Only three species of Augerella have previously been recognized (Yu et al., 2005). A key to all five currently known species of Augerella is given below, modified from Gupta (1962).

1. Lower valves of ovipositor with vertical ridges near apex; upper valve without ridges, bulb-like near apex ( Fig 1 View FIGURE 1 c); metapleurum with distinct ridges extending from submetapleural carina to posterior margin of metapleurum near hind coxa ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 g); body lemon yellow with black spots and stripes ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 a) .................... A. orientalis Gupta, 1962 View in CoL

-. Lower and upper valves of ovipositor both with slanting ridges and tapering at apex ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 d, 5d); metapleurum without ridges or with some small ridges along submetapleural carina not extending to posterior margin of metapleurum near hind coxa ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 b, 5b); body light yellow or yellowish ferruginous, with or without black markings........ 2

2. Areola completely closed behind, 0.75 as long as wide; body yellowish ferruginous, without any black marks.......... .............................................................................................................................................. A. compressa Gupta, 1962 View in CoL

-. Areola incompletely closed behind, or in A. inserta View in CoL areola closed but only 0.50 as long as wide; body yellow with black spots and stripes .................................................................................................................................................. 3

3. Clypeus basally strongly convex, apically deeply concave ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 c) ........................................ A. achterbergi sp. nov.

-. Clypeus mostly flat, basally slightly raised .................................................................................................................. 4

4. Notaulus present; first tergite more than 1.6 times apical width; ovipositor 1.90 times as long as first tergite............. ............................................................................................................................................................. A. vriesi sp. nov.

-. Notaulus absent; first tergite less than 1.4 times apical width; ovipositor 1.00 times as long as first tergite ................ ....................................................................................................................................................
