228 * Tetra indiciva Flechtmann, 2009: 236 .

Type host. Murraya paniculata (L.) Jack. ( Rutaceae ).

Type locality. Piracicaba (22°42’30”S, 47°38’00”W), São Paulo, Brazil GoogleMaps .

Additional localities in Brazil. Recife (in this paper, specimens deposited at the Collection of Plant Mites, Embrapa Genetic Resources and Biotechnology), Pernambuco.

Relationship to host plant. Vagrants; no visible symptoms. The mites live on densely trichomatose new and tender shoots and petioles of small, new leaves. They were not observed on glabrous shoots or on the leaf blades which are also glabrous, although were present in considerable numbers on their trichomatose petioles. Infested shoots as well as leaves with infested petioles develop normally ( Flechtmann 2009).

Remark. Only known from the type host/locality.

Type host plant status. Exotic tree, widely cultivated as an ornamental, used in urban landscaping throughout the country ( Lorenzi et al. 2003).

229 Tetra magnolivora ( Keifer, 1939) : 488. ( Flechtmann et al. 2017: 225).

Previous genera assignments.

Phyllocoptes , Vasates , Aculops .

Type host. Magnolia grandiflora L. ( Magnoliaceae )

Type locality. San Jose , California, USA .

Reports in Brazil. Curitiba (25°42’41”S, 49°27’16”W) ( Flechtmann et al. 2017), Paraná GoogleMaps .

Relationship to host plant. Mites live in the hair on the underside of the youngest leaves, and also in the bud hairs ( Keifer 1939). Flechtmann et al. (2017) observed these mites on buds and the abaxial face of the leaves. In new leaves, still not fully developed, the mites were present also in the adaxial face. These authors observed a large population of mites causing shriveling, distortion and decrease in size of the leaves.

Type host plant status in Brazil. Exotic tree, widely cultivated as an ornamental, used in urban landscaping throughout the country ( Lorenzi et al. 2003) .
