Description

Description (based on 9 parthenogenic female specimens): Body slender, anterior end rounded. Cuticle thin, smooth. Length 3.84–5.72 (4.93±0.55) mm, maximum width 96– 127 (115±38). Oral opening with six cuticular slight inflations (2 subdorsal, 2 subventral and 2 lateral); 2 small amphids near lateral inflations. Buccal capsule 19–31 (24±3) deep, 31–35 (32±1) wide. Lumen extending into cone­shape depression in anterior extremity of esophagus. Six onchia equal in shape and situated closer to posterior buccal capsule walls. Esophagus length 376–539 (462±52), 8.19–11.30 (9.42) % of body length (BL). Muscular region 31–43 (35±4) wide; glandular region 31–43 (37±4) wide. Esophageal bulb 46–100 (59±16) wide, slightly inflated corpus. Nerve ring at 151–244 (207±30) from the anterior end. Minute deirids present at level of excretory pore. Excretory system with a prominent pair of elongated excretory glands not reaching the anterior extremity of the esophagus. Vulva equatorial, lips slightly prominent. Distance from the anterior end of the body to vulva 1.80–2.93 (2.48±0.38) mm, 46.88–51.22 (50.41) % of BL. Tail elongated, conical, 193–306 (254±41) long, 5.05–5.35 (5.16) % of BL, with sharp terminal point. Eggs not numerous, embryonated, 74–85 (80±4) long, 39–50 (43±4) wide.

Type host and locality: Mesaspis gadovii Boulenger, 1913 (symbiotype MZFC­ 16450), collected in Puerto del Gallo, Guerrero, Mexico (17° 28’23”N; 100°10’23”W; 2543 m).

Other localities: Nueva Dehli­La Guitarra road, Guerrero, Mexico, UTA­52866 (17°29’22”N; 100°11’46”W, 2636 m).

Other records: Barisia imbricata Wiegmann, 1828 , UTA­51932; Sierra Negra: Microwave station­ in the deviation to Coyomeapan and Zoquitlan road, Puebla, Mexico (18°17’52N; 97°03’57”W, 2662 m).

Site of infection: Lungs.

Specimens deposited: Holotype, parthenogenic female, CNHE 5240; paratypes 5241, 5242; 5243, 5344 and voucher 5245.

Etymology: The new species is named after Jonathan A. Campbell for his contribution to the knowledge of the Neotropical herpetofauna.
