Material Examined. Twenty-nine specimens (14 males, 15 females).

Type Material. Holotype: ‘‘ PANAMA: Chiriqui / 5.6 km N. Boquete / LaCulebra Trail / 1,800 m, 15.VI.1996 / R. Anderson, 96-131A / wet cloud forest litter’’ ( CMNC) male . Etymology. The epithet ‘‘denticulum’’ (Latin) refers to the tooth on the posterior margin of the metatrochanter in males of this species.

Diagnosis. This species is distinguished by the following combination of characters: vertical surface of clypeus not foveate; pronotal hypomeron carinate; inflexed portion of elytron lacking basal fovea; metathoracic wings greatly reduced; male metatrochanter with broad, short tooth on posterior margin; pygidium evenly convex medially; parameres narrow, angulate-truncate apically ( Fig. 66).

Description. Holotype. Male. Total length 4.7 mm; greatest width 2.8 mm. Head. Clypeus somewhat produced anteriorly ( Fig. 64). Clypeal teeth not strongly developed, moderately widely separated, weakly reflexed. Clypeal emargination evenly rounded; vertical surface broadly V-shaped, not foveate. Apical margin of clypeus lateral to teeth slightly convexly arcuate. Disc of clypeus concave anteriorly; posteriorly, slightly convex with shallow depression on each side of convexity; coarsely, densely punctate, except for impunctate area at apex. Clypeogenal suture indicated by vague raised carina. Gena strongly produced, forming angle at junction with anterior margin of clypeus. Vertex and gena coarsely, densely punctate. Pronotum. Convex medially, laterally explanate, shallow depressions laterally in posterior half; with shallow median longitudinal depression in posterior two-thirds. Anterior angles obtusely rounded. Sides anterior to lateral angles slightly concavely arcuate; slightly sinuate posterior to lateral angles. Posterior angles obtusely rounded, not incised. Pronotal punctures large, shallow, annulate, bearing conspicuous, flattened, pale setae. Pronotal hypomeron convex, coarsely punctate, with longitudinal carina posterolaterally. Elytra. Transversely and longitudinally strongly convex; lateral carinae strongly elevated, slightly sinuate posteriorly. Each elytron with strong convexity in apical half ( Fig. 67). Each elytron dorsally with seven striae, seventh stria visible only at base, each stria indicated by two feeble wavy lines. Elytral intervals slightly convex posteriorly; each interval with closely spaced, very fine setose punctures on each side adjacent to striae; setae conspicuous, erect, with curved apices. Inflexed portion of elytron broad, evenly narrowed apically, lacking basal fovea, nearly impunctate; stria eight absent, nine weakly indicated in apical half, ten faintly visible adjacent to epipleuron. Epipleuron nearly impunctate. Wings. Metathoracic wings greatly reduced. Venter. Prosternum and mesosternum with shallow, annulate punctures. Meso-metasternal suture broadly rounded. Metasternum with weakly indicated longitudinal median convexity; medially with fine scattered punctures; laterally, punctures large, dense, annulate. Legs. Profemur densely punctate ventrally. Protibia ( Fig. 63) narrow with slight median convexity before apex, strongly expanded medially at apex. Mesofemur and metafemur with scattered, medium-sized punctures ventrally. Metatrochanter with broad, short tooth on posterior margin. Metafemur narrow basally, widened medially in apical half. Metatibia strongly angulate, weakly crenulate; lacking subapical lobe. Abdomen. Apical sternite with shallow, annulate punctures. Pygidium ( Fig. 68) weakly convex, with moderately spaced medium-sized shallow punctures; base not sulcate. Male genitalia. Parameres ( Figs. 65–66) with apices narrow, angulate-truncate, not setose.

Variation. Male: total length 4.3–5.2 mm; greatest width 2.5–3.0 mm. Female: total length 4.4–5.1 mm; greatest width 2.5–3.0 mm; clypeal teeth more strongly developed; metatrochanter lacking distinct tooth; tibiae unmodified.

Bionomics. This species has been collected from wet cloud forest litter and in flight intercept traps at elevations of 1,550–1,800 m during the month of June.

Geographic Distribution ( Fig. 69). This species is known only from the Panamanian province of Chiriqui.
