Astymachus eximius Hayat in Hayat and Veenakumari 2015: 260 – 263 View Cited Treatment . Holotype ♀, India, NCPM, not examined.

Diagnosis. Female. Length, including ovipositor, 1.27 mm. Body generally yellow, frontovertex with two pale brown stripes, occiput and malar space pale brown; antenna pale yellow to dusky yellow, clava brown; thorax yellow with a pair of faint brown stripes dorsally; fore wing infuscate; TI – TV of gaster each with a narrow, pale brown cross band; head about 2× as long as eye; palp formula 3 – 2; antenna with F1 – F5 anneliform; linear sensilla only on F6; clava 2-segmented; scutellum with about 13 setae; wings shortened, fore wing reaching less than halfway along gaster, well short of cercal plates; ovipositor about 3× mid tibia and 2.2× gonostylus. Male. Unknown.

Distribution. India (Karnataka).

Comments. Astymachus eximius is the only known species of Astymachus where the females are clearly brachypterous.
