Comparison. Similar to S. propodeator sp. nov. and S. pseudoorosia sp. nov. in colour pattern and structure, but differs from S. propodeator by the brownish orange propodeum which is not darker than the mesopleuron, and the clypeus, which is widely black on its upper part ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ), and from S. pseudoorosia by the wider clypeus, slenderer mandible, shorter distance between the propodeal spiracle and pleural carina and its shorter ovipositor.

Description. Female. Body length about 7.0 mm. Fore wing length almost 4.0 mm.

Head strongly rounded behind eyes in dorsal view; temple 0.46× as long as eye width. Mandible very weakly narrowed at base, upper and lower margins mostly subparallel; upper tooth much longer than lower tooth. Clypeus broad, almost 3.0× as broad as high, lenticular, slightly convex in lateral view, smooth, with rather dense punctures on its upper 0.6. Malar space about 0.4–0.5× as long as basal width of mandible. Flagellum of antenna with 24–27 flagellomeres (26 flagellomeres in holotype); all flagellomeres slightly elongate, subapical flagellomeres sometimes subsquare. Inner eye orbits very weakly convergent ventrally. Face centrally with slightly elongate prominence, finely and very densely punctate over very finely granulate, almost smooth surface. Frons very finely granulate, dull, finely and very densely punctate. Vertex and temple finely granulate (temple centrally almost smooth), with very fine, sometimes indistinct punctures.

Notaulus as tubercle or short crest distant from anterolateral margin of mesoscutum, sometimes also with small depression behind tubercle or crest ( Figs 42, 43 View FIGURES 40 – 46 ). Mesoscutum finely granulate, sometimes dorsally almost smooth, with very fine, dense punctures. Scutellum with lateral longitudinal carinae reaching its posterior end and joining posteriorly ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 40 – 46 ). Foveate groove of mesopleuron situated in anterior 0.7 of mesopleuron, coarse, strongly oblique, with strong wrinkles anteriorly usually reaching anterior margin of mesopleuron ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 40 – 46 ). Mesopleuron finely but distinctly punctate, smooth and shining between punctures, with impunctate area above foveate groove. Propodeum granulate, dorsolateral area usually very finely punctate, without wrinkles adjacent to carinae. Basal area of propodeum broad, 1.3–1.8× as long as broad (1.65× in holotype), 0.58× as long as apical area; basal longitudinal carinae well developed, weakly diverging anteriorly ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 40 – 46 ). Propodeal spiracle big, separated from pleural carina by ≤1.0× diameter of spiracle. Apical area flat, anteriorly broadly truncate ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 40 – 46 ).

Fore wing ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 10 ) with veins Rs +2 r and Rs angled about 115°. Vein 2 rs-m 1.65× as long as abscissa of M between 2 rs-m and 2 m-cu. Hind wing with cu 1& cu-a slightly inclivous to almost vertical. Hind femur 4.8× as long as broad, 0.9× as long as tibia.

First tergite very slender, 5.0× as long as posteriorly broad, smooth, petiole laterally finely striate. Glymma situated slightly behind middle of tergite 1, small, isolated or joining by very shallow indistinct furrow to ventral part of postpetiole. Second tergite 2.8× as long as anteriorly broad. Thyridial depression more than 4.0× as long as broad. Ovipositor weakly upcurved, with shallow dorsal subapical depression; sheath about as long as first tergite and slightly longer than hind tibia.

Head black; clypeus reddish brown in its lower part and black in upper part ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ), palpi and mandible (teeth blackish) yellow. Scape and pedicel of antenna dorsally brown, ventrally yellowish, flagellum dark brown, basally sometimes yellowish brown. Mesosoma (including tegula) brownish orange, propleuron and anterior margin of pronotum yellowish. Fore and mid legs yellowish orange, coxae and trochanters whitish. Hind leg brownish orange, femur brown to black, tibia fuscous with yellowish apex. Pterostigma blackish. Metasomal segment 1 brownish black. Metasoma behind tergite 1 yellow ventrally, predominantly brown to brownish black laterally and dorsally, tergite 2 with narrow yellowish posterior band, tergites 3+ with yellowish marks dorsoposteriorly.

Male. Similar to female.

Variation. Petiole of metasomal segment 1 sometimes brown. Hind femur and tibia in some light specimens only slightly brownish, and clypeus in two females from Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve entirely yellow. Ovipositor sheath usually as long as tergite 1 of metasoma, but sometimes somewhat longer (at most 1.2× as long as tergite 1).

Etymology. Named after the type locality, Orosi volcano.
