Type locality: South Africa, Eastern Cape.

Imago (Fig. 60): Wingspan 18–29mm. Head dark brownish black, proboscis long, dark-scaled; labial palpus long, upcurved, a tuft of dark fuscous scales near base of segment 1, segment 2 with shorter scales, segment 3 paler, slender and pointed; maxillary palpus very small; antenna pale fuscous. Thorax dark fuscous.

Forewing dark fuscous; a pale whitish antemedian fascia in dorsal half of wing; a brownish-white postmedian fascia edged on inner and outer sides with whitish and dark fuscous lines, strongly waved on outer edge; subterminal line whitish forming a spot above tornus; a row of balckish dots along termen; cilia fuscous. Hindwing whitish; a dark fuscous arc-shaped subbasal fascia; antemedian fascia similar, including some orange scales in disc; postmedian zone irrorate dark fuscous; a double dark fuscous subterminal line; six black terminal eye-spots surrounded by dull orange with a scattering of metallic scales, the orange extended towards both base and apex; above eye-spots fuscous dashes almost forming a third subterminal linne; cilia fuscous. Abdomen dark brown.

Male genitalia (Fig. 116): Uncus spatulate; gnathos ¾ length of uncus with small spines on dorsal edge of apex; valva almost parallel sided, termen oblique and straight forming a right angle at apex, a single curved specialised seta just before apex. Aedeagus with a small cornutus and sclerotisation around tip.

Female genitalia (Fig. 170): Ostium broad, antrum membranous, almost cylindrical until narrowing to colliculum; colliculum strongly sclerotised and wrinkled; corpus bursae with a weakly sclerotised plate immediately below colliculum and signa comprising a broad scobinate longitudinal band.

Tympanal organs: Venulae long and straight, just slightly wider apart at anterior end.

Diagnosis: Distinguished from other Eoophyla spp. by the distinctive arrangement of terminal eyespots on the hindwing, together with brownish colour of forewing. In the male genitalia by the undulating shape of the costa of the valva.

Biology: Unknown.
