Distribution in the Palaearctic region: Balkans, Western Siberia, Czechoslavakia, Iran, Caucasia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, European part of Russia, Turkey, Somali ( Soltani 1978; Mol & Zeybekoğlu 2013; Şirin & Mol 2013).

Distribution in the Turkish Thrace: KIRKLARELİ: Lüleburgaz, Hamidabat Village pasture 23.VI.1969, 1 ♀♀ ( Karabağ et al. 1971).

Description of song: D. brevicollis male calling song consists of a long polysyllabic phrase ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 B). The calling song mostly lasts for 3–21 s. Syllable numbers vary between 6 and 38 in a phrase ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 B). The syllable durations are usually changing between 40 and 75 ms. Each syllable in phrase commonly contains 2–4 high amplitude pulses with a rapid crescendo structure. The initial syllable duration is between 6 and 7 ms, the second syllable is of 8–10 ms and the last one is of 11 ms ( Figs. 6 View FIGURE 6 C–D).
