Type:— BRAZIL: Prov. de Bahia, Dupasquier s.n., 1851 (lectotype, designated here G-DC). Residual syntypes:— Brazil : in sylvis umbrosis ad Maracas , Martius s.n. ( M [ M0113294 ], B [B100242185] a fragment of the M specimen) .
Notes:—de Candolle (1859) described Begonia bahiensis citing two collections (syntypes): Dupasquier s.n. and Martius s.n. (two specimens). Dupasquier s.n. has been selected for the lectotype.
