Material studied. MEXICO - Quintana Roo • J.I. de la Fuente 430 ( ITCV); road to El Huasteco; 19°18′N, 088°16′W; alt. 33 m; 08 Jan. 2019 GoogleMaps .

Habit and habitat. Scattered on fallen logs in evergreen tropical forest.

Identification. This species can be identified by a small depressed pileus with greyish tones, whitish lamellae, a dark stipe, and ellipsoid spores of 6–9 × 3–5 µm. Our material agrees with the description provided by Pegler (1983). Gerronema cyathiforme (Berk. & M.A. Curtis) is a similar species but differs from G. bryogeton by having a reddish to olivaceous brown stipe ( Pegler 1983).
