Loxopholis sp.

Distribution: In Colombia there is a single record of this Loxopholis in the eastern Amazon region ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ).

Remarks: The specimen we examined presented a mixture of characters among Loxopholis ioanna , L. osvaldoi , L. parietalis , L. percarinatum , and L. snethlageae . For example, this individual has three pairs of chin shields being the third reduced as in L. ioanna (four enlarged in L. parietalis and L. snethlageae , three with the fourth reduced in L. osvaldoi and L. percarinatum ). As well, it has the third supraocular larger than the second as in L. osvaldoi and L. snethlageae . Moreover, dorsals are rhomboidal like in L. parietalis and L. percarinatum , scales around the midbody are 26, lying in the range of L. osvaldoi and L. percarinatum , but transversally there are 31 like in L. parietalis . Ventral scales also resemble in shape to those of L. percarinatum . It is important to mention that L. ioanna is distributed in the Pacific coast of Colombia and L. osvaldoi group in the southern Amazonia of Brazil. We do not assign a specific determination because this individual is not in full agreement with any other Loxopholis of the region.
