Notes. The species was described from a single female, which was lettered by Walker (1854) in the original description as ‘a’, and this specimen should be treated as holotype by monotypy. Hampson’s (1900) subsequent citation of the material examined as “N. China (Fortune), 2♀, type” should be regarded as the author studied two specimens from North China collected by Fortune, including the type one (A. Zilli, pers. comm.).

Diagnosis. The forewing length is 16.5–18.0 mm in males and 17.0– 19.5 mm in females. Thysanoplisna signata is most similar to Th. brevimacula and the detailed comparison is provided above in the diagnosis of the latter.

Distribution. East and South China (Fukien, Jiangxi, Guangdong, and Hainan Provinces, and Shanghai) ( Walker 1854; Daniel 1954 (partim., as ‘ Lithosia signata ssp. directa ’); Kishida 2011).
