Type species by monotypy: Capsus coryzoides Herrich-Schaeffer, 1839 .

The genus is distinguished by the following characters: small to medium sized body; brownish back coloration, with contrasting white maculae across clavus and corium; flattened collar; a stridulatory device on inner surface of metafemora; and very long, slender endosoma, with complex sub-apical or apical region. For detailed description see Schuh (1984: 117).

The genus Hallodapus is widely distributed in the tropics and subtropics of the Old World consisting of about 47 described species ( Schuh & Menard, 2013). Miyomoto (1966) described two species of the Hallodapus from Japan. Schuh (1984) treated comprehensively the Asian Hallodapus fauna, recognizing sixteen species. In recent studies Duwal et al., 2014; Yasunaga, 2001; Yasunaga, 2012; Yasunaga et al., 2013a, b and Yasunaga & Duwal, 2015, added distribution records from different regions of Asia for several species. We herein provide new distributional records for some known species. Four Hallodapus species are recognized for the first time from Nepal.
