Euceropsylla Boselli

( Figs 28View FIGURES 28 – 36, 67View FIGURES 59 – 70, 82View FIGURES 81 – 83)

Diagnosis: Head a little wider than mesonotum; lateral ocelli raised on tubercles; anteorbital lobes present; genal processes 0.3–0.8 times as long as vertex, subparallel sided or divergent, rounded apically and slightly upturned ( Fig. 28View FIGURES 28 – 36). Antennae 2.6–5.0 times head width, segments 7 and 8 the longest; terminal setae truncate, one seta about half the other. Forewing obovate; pterostigma narrow, veins bearing short inconspicuous setae; veins M1+2 and Cu1a weakly arched. Meracanthus prominent; metatibia with genual spine and 5–6 grouped apical spurs. Male terminalia with bifid parameres.

Biology and damage: Immatures are free-living and are found on young leaves on the lower leaf surface, excreting waxy secretions (field observation).

Host-plants: Predominantly species of Inga  ( Fabaceae  ) ( Hodkinson 1989).

Distribution: Neotropical ( Hodkinson 1989).

Remarks: Vélez (1973) reported Psylla ingae Tuthill  from Colombia. Brown & Hodkinson (1988) transferred the species to Euceropsylla  and synonymised it with E. multiplex (Tuthill)  . This synonymy is questionable and Euceropsylla  is in need of revision.
