( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 H)

Chilodontopsis acuta Ozaki & Yagiu, 1941: 175 , fig. 23.

Zosterodasys acuta – Jankowski 2007: 729 (combining author).

Diagnosis. Size about 80–130 × 35–50 µm in vivo (?). Body shape narrowly obovate with left margin anteriorly slightly projecting. Macronucleus ellipsoidal with a single globular micronucleus. Three contractile vacuoles arranged in a row near right margin in posterior body half. About 22 ciliary rows on ventral side of cell. About 16 nematodesmal rods. Marine.

Type locality. Under cyanobacterial layer in saltwater ditches near the Onomiti Channel, Japan.

Type material. Deposition of type material not mentioned in the original paper.

Etymology. Not given in the original description. The Latin adjective acut · us, - a, - um ([m, f, n]; acute), obviously refers to the acute posterior body end.

Remarks. Jankowski (2007) combined C. acuta with Zosterodasys , but did not change the species groupname to masculine gender. Thus, according to the Articles 30.2.4, 31.2 and 34.2 of the ICZN (1999), we mandatorily change acuta to acutus because Zosterodasys is masculine gender. Full redescription and neotypification of Z. acutus is recommended because several important data (i.e., somatic and oral ciliary pattern as well as morphometry) and type material are lacking.
