Type material. Holotype female from INDIA: Uttarakhand: Almora (formerly in Uttar Pradesh): Bageshwar (29°50’25.30’’N, 79°46’09.93’’E), 973 m alt.; J.C. Tripathi leg.; 30 June 1972; repository NZC-ZSI, Kolkata (no register number specified), examined. GoogleMaps
Type material status. The ZSI collection has one glass tube for this species, which is labeled as ‘holotype’ (5343/18) contains one female specimen in fairly good condition, with broken legs and intact genitalia.
Diagnosis. Females of P. himalayaensis closely resemble the females of P. pandeae in the shape of epigynum, but can be distinguished from the latter by epigynum without M-shaped anterior margin (epigynum of P. pandeae with narrow, M-shaped anterior margin) and with comma-shaped shadows of vulvae ( P. pandeae with C-shaped shadows of vulvae) (compare Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–4 with Fig. 14 View FIGURES 10–18 ).
Supplementary description. Female (holotype, Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1–4 ). Colour in alcohol: carapace, eye region, clypeus, chelicerae, fangs brownish; opisthosoma greyish-brown with irregular striae on dorsum composed of fine black hairs. Fovea obsolete. Body length 5.80. Carapace length 2.89, width 4.43. Opisthosoma length 2.91, width 4.11. Eye diameters: ALE 0.15. AME 0.16. PLE 0.18. PME 0.13. Eye interdistances: ALE–AME 0.10. ALE–PLE 0.24. AME–AME 0.08. AME–PME 0.12. PME–PLE 0.33. PME–PME 0.24. Chelicerae length 0.51. Clypeus height at ALEs 0.05, at AMEs 0.05. Measurements of palp: 1.96 [0.64, 0.42, 0.35, 0.55].
