Remarks. Silurus indicus was reported from the Kabul River by Misra (1976). Then listed by Coad (1981: 16) in Afghanistan as a synonym of Ompok canio . However, it is distributed in the Ganges and Bengal river estuaries. Ompok canio was identified from the Brahmaputra River at Gualpara [Goalpara], Assam, India. Afghanistan is not included in the natural distribution range of the species. The presence of the species needs clarification.
