Genus Oxythyrea Mulsant, 1842

The genus was redefined by Antoine (1997a) taking into account the structure of the male genitalia. This author also lists all African species known from the four subgenera of Oxythyrea . A total of ten species are recognized in the nominal subgenus ( Beinhundner 2017b). There are two species registered for Guinea-Bissau ( Brivio 1958).
