Material examined: none.

Remarks. A polymorphic species with 4 recognized subspecies, including the nominal one ( Beinhundner 2017b; Schoolmeesters 2019). Gnathocera varians varians is restricted to the northern-western most tropical countries of Africa. Biological and ecological data are not available.
