Cochlostoma martorelli martorelli (Bourguignat, 1880) View in CoL

Specimens from the provinces of Barcelona ( Montserrat, Sant LlorencË del Munt, Berga), Gerona and PyreÂneÂes-Orientales are of moderate size, with little diOEerence between males and females (®gures 17, 19). They have a ®ne and regular ribbing, and a colour pattern which de®nes clear subsutural patches and a peri-umbilical band super®cially resembling the pattern of C. obscurum . The population in Berga has ®xed (ODH, MPI) or nearly ®xed (PGD) alleles which distinguish it from the populations found further west; the MPI B allele is shared with the type locality, Montserrat. The population from higher Llobregat valley diOEers from the bulk of C. martorelli by alternative ®xed alleles at PGI and LAP loci; however the LAP B allele is also found at a low frequency in the populations of Jou and OrganÄa, Lerida province.
