Described originally in Exophthalmothrips from a female collected at Sta Theresa, Brazil, but with a synonym based on a female from Amazonas, Peru, nomenclatural details and images of this species are web-available (ThripsWiki 2017). It is here recorded for the first time from Argentina, with females collected from open flowers of roses.

NEW RECORD: Argentina, Jujuy, San Salvador de Jujuy (S24 10 44.31 W65 19 42.87): 1 female on Rosa sp., 30.vi.2014 GoogleMaps ; San Salvador de Jujuy, 2 females on Rosa sp. 06.x.2014 ; 1 female, on Rosa sp., 30.ix.2016 (M. I. Zamar).
