This species was originally described from Troglodytes troglodytes (Linnaeus) ( Troglodytidae View in CoL ) from Germany ( Fritsch 1958). N. troglodytis comb. nov. was also reported from Phylloscopus collybita (Vieillot) (Sylviidae) View in CoL from France ( Bochkov & Mironov 1998) but in the publication of Bochkov et al. (2001), the specimens found on this host species were described as Syringophilopsis phylloscopi Bochkov, Mironov et Skoracki, 2001 (Bochkov et al. 2001) . Currently, N. troglodytis comb. nov. is known from two hosts: T. troglodytes from Germany, and Poland ( Fritsch 1958; Skoracki 2004) and from T. aedon (Vieillot) from Canada ( Bochkov & Galloway 2001).
