Typematerial. Holotype: female – USA, Washington, SkamaniaCo., WindRiver Crane Canopy Res., 45°49’14”N 121°57’W, ex. Douglas fir, lichens, 29.09.2000, leg. Behan, V. & Eamer, B. (slideCNCAZ0717); Paratype: Canada, BritishColumbia, VancouverIsland, Mt. Maquilla, 1200 ma.s.l., litterbagswith Abiesamabilis needlesongroundbelow ( A. amabilis ), 22.06– 22.08.1998, leg. Fagan (slideCNCAZ0397 – 1 femaleidentifiedearlieras ‘ Microzercon sp. ’).

Diagnosis of female. Setae j2 and z3 smooth and needle-like, as well as othercentralandsubmarginalsetaeofpodonotum, exceptz6 ands5 which moderatelylong, pilose. OpisthonotalJ-setae, Z1–4 andS2–5 pointed, densely coveredbyshortpili. Marginalsetaedenselypilose, brush-like. GlandsPo 2 in position gdS2, belowlineconnectingS2 andS3, Po3 inposition gdJ3, situated posterolateraltoJ3. Anteriorsurfaceofpodonotalshieldcoveredbyscales possessingspinyandlacyposteriormargin. Surfaceofopisthonotumsmooth, withafewtinypitsbetweentheJ-andZ-series. Lateralposterodorsalcavities weaklydeveloped, centralcavitiesinconspicuous. Posterolateraltipsofperi- trematalshieldsfusedwithventrianalshieldonlevelofsetaeR3.

Descriptionoffemale. Lengthofidiosoma: 338–345 μm (342 μm); width: 295–300 μm (298 μm) (n = 2).

Dorsal side ( Fig. 55 View Figs 55–56 ). Podonotum with 20 pairs of setae, j1–6, z2–6, s1–6, r2 and r4–5 inserteddorsally, r1 andr3 insertedventrally, onperitrematalshields. Setaej1, s2, r2, s3, r4–5 ands6 moderatelylong, brush-like, denselypilose. Setaej2–6, z2–5, s1 ands4 smooth andneedle-like. Setaez6 ands5 moderatelylong, pointed, denselycoveredbyshortpili. Setaes5 situatednearlevelofz5. Glands gds1 (po1) situatedposteriortoinsertionsofs1, medial to setae z2; gdj4 (po2) situated below line connecting j4 and z4, near z4; gds4 (po3) lateraltolineconnectings4 ands5. Centralsurfaceofpodonotalshieldcoveredbyscales possessingspinyposteriormargin, anterolateralsurfacewithscalespossessinglacyposteriormargin, theposteriorareawithoutornamentation.

Opisthonotumwith 22 pairsofsetae: J1–5, Z1–5 andS1–5, marginalR-serieswith seven pairs of setae. Setae J1–5, Z1–4 and S2–5 similar in appearance, moderately long, pointed, denselycoveredbyshortpili. J1–4, Z1–3 andS2 reachinginsertionsofthefollowingsetaeoftheseries. SetaeJ1–5 andZ1–4 constitutenearlyparallellines. SetaeZ4 situated on line connecting Z3 and S5. Setae S2 situated anteromedial to S3. Setae Z5, S1 and R1–6 brush-like, denselypilose, R7 somewhatshorterthanprevioussetae, bent, pointed, pilose. SetaeS2–4 notreachingbeyondmarginsofopisthonotum, thetipsofsetaeJ5 and S5 expandingbeyondmarginsofidiosoma. Lengthofopisthonotalsetaeanddistances betweentheirinsertionsasinTable 7. Glands gdZ1 (Po1) situatedanteromedialtoinser- tions of Z1; gdS2 (Po2) situated below line connecting S2 and S3; gdJ3 (Po3) posterolateral to insertionsofJ3; gdS5 (Po4) onlineconnectingJv5 andS5, equidistantly. Marginalserration deep, obtuse. TheareaofmusclescarsbetweentheJ-andZ-seriescoveredbyseveraltiny pits, therestofopisthonotumwithoutsculpturalpattern. Lateralposterodorsalcavities multangular, weaklydeveloped, situatedbetweeninsertionsofJ5 andS5. Centralcavities inconspicuous.

Ventralside ( Fig. 56 View Figs 55–56 ). Peritrematalandventrianalshieldsfusedwithbodymargins. Posterolateraltipsofperitrematalshieldsfusedwithlateralpartsofventrianalshieldon levelofsetaeR3. Patternofperitrematalshieldsinconspicuous. Peritremesfinelycurved, withasmalldilationnearstigmata. Peritrematalsetaer1 andr3 short, smoothandbristlelike. Tritosternumwithtwoslender, apicallybifurcate, marginallypiloselaciniae, tritos- ternalbasevase-like ( Fig. 57 View Figs 57–61 ). Sternalshield 53 μmlongand 40 μmwideatthelevelof setaest2, withslightlyarcuateposteriormargin, withreticulateornamentation. Sternal setaesmoothandneedle-like. Glands gv1 situatedmedialtosetaest3. Genitalshieldtypi- calforthefamily, withafewsutures, genitalsetaesmoothandneedle-like. Glands gv2 present, withasingleopeningsurroundedbytinyadgenitalsclerites. Ventrianalshield withsmoothandneedle-likesetae, setaeZv1 absent. Adanalsetae, Jv4 andpostanalseta 1.5–2 timeslongerthanotherpreanalsetae. SetaeJv5 moderatelylong, brush-like, densely pilose. Analvalveswithvestigialeuanalsetae. Glands gv3 situatedlateraltoadanalsetae. Anteriorsurfaceofventrianalshieldcoveredbytile-likepatterntolevelofJv3–Jv4.

Gnathosoma ( Fig. 58 View Figs 57–61 ). Situationofhypostomalandsubcapitularsetaetypicalforthe family. Setae h1 elongate, smooth. Setae h2-3 shorter than h1, smooth, h4 longer than previ- oussetae, serrate. Corniculihorn-like, internalmalaewithapairofbifurcateanterocentral branchesandwithserratemargins. Chelicerae ( Fig. 59 View Figs 57–61 ) relativelyslender, fixeddigitwith 6 teeth, movabledigitwith 4–5 teeth. Epistomeof Prozercon - type ( Figs 60–61 View Figs 57–61 ).
