Sphagnum recurvum View in CoL complex
Published records of S. recurvum in Serbia come from the time when wide concept of the species was used. Recent research showed that it is a rather complex taxon, in Europe represented with several taxa - S. angustifolium (C. E. O. Jensen ex Russow) C. E. O. Jensen, S. brevifolium (Lindb. ex Braithw.) Röll, S. fallax (H.Klinggr.) H.Klinggr. , S. flexuosum Dozy & Molk. and S. isoviitae Flatberg ( Szurdoki et al. 2014). The only recent certain European report of S. recurvum s.s. is from the Azores ( Dias et al. 2009). Although presence of S. recurvum s.s. is Serbia is not likely, checking the herbarium specimens is needed in order to resolve its status.
