Platypus psilacanthurus (Beeson) n.comb.

Taxonomy. The male holotype, and up to now the only recorded specimen, is inaccessible (IFRI). However, Beeson provided a clear description of the species, and in addition, we have examined a drawing of the elytral declivity (NMW) made by Schedl from the holotype. The specimens from Thailand (see below) agree with both Beeson’s description and the drawing. The species is clearly related to Platypus lewisi and P. lobacanthus . It has the characters of Platypus , not Carchesiopygus , and is here transferred to Platypus .

Distribution. India (West Bengal), Thailand.

New records. THAILAND, Phetchabun, Nam Nao NP, Sambon 3, 16 o42.41'N, 101o35.3'E, 868m, pine forest, malaise trap, 25.ix.–2.x., 2– 9.x., 9–16.x.2006 (L. Janteab) (2♂, 1♀).

Biology. Recorded from Dalbergia sissoo (‘katus’) (Leguminosae) ( Beeson 1937), and from Castanopsis ?tribuloides ( Fagaceae ) by Beeson (1941).
