Notiospathius striatifrons ( Cameron) View in CoL ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 A–D)

Spathius striatifrons Cameron, 1887 Female. — Colour: head brown, malar space and edges around eye orbits honey yellow; scape and pedicel honey yellow; flagellum brown (incomplete); palpi light brown. Mesosoma and first metasomal tergite excluding basal area dark brown; basal area of first tergite and remaining terga brown. Fore and middle femur and tibia yellow at upper half, light brown at basal half; hind leg coxa dark brown at base, turning yellow apically, trochanters yellow, femur brown at basal half, yellow at apical half, tibia and tarsus honey yellow. Wings slightly dusky, veins light brown, stigma brown, tegula yellow. Body length 4.6 mm; ovipositor 1.7 mm. Head: temple about 0.15 times eye width; face strongly costate-rugose; frons strongly rugose; vertex transversally striate; temple transversally striate; eyes 1.3 times higher than wide; malar suture absent; malar space 0.3 times eye eight; hypoclypeal depression slightly elliptical; ocell-ocular distance twice diameter of lateral ocellus; occipital carina complete, joining ventrally with hypostomal carina; scape, pedicel and flageromeres smooth; scape 1.3 longer than wide; antenna broken, 15–13 flageromeres remaining. Mesosoma: length 1.9 times its maximum height; propleuron weakly costate-rugose; pronotum costate-rugose; median lobe coriaceous; lateral mesonotal lobes coriaceous, turning rugose at the edges; notauli scrobiculate and wide; mesopleuron porcate-coriaceous dorsally, coriaceous medially and ventrally; venter of mesosoma weakly coriacoeus; sternaulus scrobiculate and wide; propodeum longitudinally costate-rugose anteriorly and medially, rugose posteriorly, without distinct median carina or areola, with a distinct spine over hind coxa and a spine at apical-lateral corners. Wings: forewing 4.3 times longer than its maximum width; pterostigma 5.3 times longer than wide. Legs: hind coxa costate-coriaceous. Metasoma: first metasomal tergite longitudinally costate-rugose and weakly coriaceous; 5 times longer than wide (narrowest area); basal sternal plate (acrosternite) about 0.75 times length of tergum; second tergum weakly rugose at mid-basally, weakly costate in lateral areas, smooth in the middle; remaining terga smooth, though transversally weakly costate at least in lateral areas of third and fourth tergites; ovipositor 0.65 times as long as metasoma.

Male. Unknown.

Holotype. Panama: female, ‘Bugalba, Champion’. NHM type Hym. 3c 527.

Comments. Notiospathius stratifrons is similar to N. leucacrocera , but distinguishes from it for having most part of the propodeum longitudinally costate-rugose and the malar space and edges around eye orbits honey yellow.
