Diagnosis. This species is superficially very similar to T. lineata , but it can be distinguished by having a broad costal band whereas the latter species has a very slender line. The male genitalia of T. vittaticosta are distinctive as the anellus lobe is robust and angled, making it somewhat rhombiform. Compared to two related species T. lineata and T. albalata , the new species has broader male sternum VIII and much shorter saccus. The female genitalia of T. vittaticosta are characterized by the long and strongly coiled ductus bursae and the signum consisting of triangular sclerites.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 12H View FIGURE 12 ). Wingspan 5.5−9.5 mm. Head creamy white. Labial palpus creamy white; in male, shorter and stouter than that of female, segment I long, fuscous on outer surface, segment II slightly shorter than I, hair pencil almost reaching apex of III, segment III longer than II, fuscous on ventral surface; in female, segment I and basal half of segment II suffused with fuscous on outer surface, segment III as long as II, fuscous on ventral surface. Antenna with scape white; flagellum fuscous except basal 1/2 or 1/3 of dorsal surface white, male cilia as long as diameter. Thorax creamy white, with a broad, fuscous median streak. Tegula creamy white, fuscous along anterior margin. Forewing ground color white to cream, apical area light brown; apical spot round, suffused inwardly with silvery white scales, apex falcate; markings fuscous: a broad band along costa from base to near apex, after middle attenuated and slightly curved; beyond this, outwardly oblique, two costal streaks from distal 1/3 and 1/4 of wing, respectively, first streak wider than second, distally confluent with former costal band, then confluent with second costal streak at half way across wing, running toward tornal streak but interrupted by silvery scales; beyond this, two inwardly oblique costal strigulae before apical spot, alternating with white scales; a fuscous shade from near base to basal 2/3 along dorsum; above this, a longitudinal streak from near base to basal 1/3, slightly curved distally and reached fold, sometimes merged into the fuscous shade on dorsum; from basal 1/3 of dorsum, the shade becomes distinct and broadened, extends obliquely toward apex as a broad streak, meets costal streak before apex; from near tornus two slender and inwardly oblique streaks shortly running toward discal cell, inner streak sometimes reaching former streak from dorsum, outer streak strongly curved outward forming a V-shaped marking and running toward apical spot, then confluent with costal streak distally; tornal streak short and narrow, running toward costal streaks but interrupted by silvery scales; fringe on apical area dark fuscous with a creamy median band, on termen metallic fuscous with base cream, on dorsum grey strongly mixed with cream distally. Hindwing grey, subapex mixed with cream, apex dark fuscous; fringe grey except apical area fuscous. Legs as in T. macularis except streaks on mid and hind tibiae longer and more distinct.

Male sternum VIII ( Fig. 25N View FIGURE 25 ). 1/5 length of abdomen, trapezoidal, posterior apex broad and slightly concave.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 37F View FIGURE 37 ). Uncus elliptical, slightly broadened distally. Gnathos hook simple, moderately long. Tegumen approximately 3 times as long as uncus. Valva slender at base, gradually broadening to basal 1/3, then narrowing to middle, distal half almost uniformly elongate, rounded at apex. Anellus lobe robust, angled, 1/4 length of valva, with base narrow, distal 2/3 rhombiform, setose along ventral margin; apical bristle robust, hooked, 1/2 length of anellus lobe. Juxta simple, broadly convex. Vinculum with posterior margin slightly convex at middle. Saccus very short, broad, with apex shortly produced.Aedeagus with basal 2/3 dilated, slightly narrowed to subapex, with a short tooth before apex on dorsal margin, truncate at apex; interior sclerite arising from distal 1/5, slightly exceeding apex of aedeagus.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 54C View FIGURE 54 ). Papillae anales weakly sclerotized. Apophyses anteriores 2/3 length of apophyses posteriores. Tergum VIII weakly sclerotized. Sternum VIII with numerous round patches, each patch consisting of minute spines, anterior margin strongly produced in U-shape. Ostium bursae large, round. Ductus bursae very long, with anterior half strongly coiled; a sclerite at base, its posterior half very slender, anterior half broadened, nearly as wide as base of ductus bursae; ductus seminalis arising beyond former sclerite. Corpus bursae elliptical, 1/3 or 1/4 length of ductus bursae; signum near posterior margin, consisting of triangular sclerites, forming a rosette.

Distribution. China (Chongqing, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Jiangxi, Taiwan, Xizang, Yunnan), Cambodia.

Etymology. The species name is derived from Latin, vittatus (banded) and costa, referring to the broad costal band of the forewing.
