Hydraena arachthi Ferro & Jäch, 2000 View in CoL in the Peloponnese

H. arachthi was described on the basis of a single male collected in 1991 in the Arachthos River, on the border between Arta and Ioannina districts, Ipiros province, western Greece. The species was so far only known from the holotype, and is apparently closely related to Hydraena cappadocica Jäch, 1988 . A single teneral male of H. arachthi was found in marginal gravels on 26/vi/ 2012 in the Alphios River nr. Archaea Olympia, this being the first record from the Peloponnese, and a significant range extension for this apparently rare species. Hydraena simonidea Orchymont was found with H. arachthi in the Alphios, together with numerous H. morio and H. subjuncta .
