The ciliates of the genus Thurstonia are typically characterized by an inverted-U shaped sucker and devoid of skeletal fibers and isolated segments of kinetics. Two new species of the genus Thurstonia have been identified and described: T. emini n. sp. and T. nilotica n. sp.
