Exallancyla View in CoL , new genus

Type species: Callancyla tuberculicollis Aurivillius View in CoL , by present designation.

Description. Frons plane. Antennal tubercles prominent, acuminate, moderately proximate. Genae diverging apically, acute, half as long as lower eye lobes. Mandibles in both sexes without dorsal lobe at base. Antennae subserrate in males, barely reaching elytral apices; conspicuously serrate in females, attaining middle of elytra. Scape in males cylindrical, enlarged, not arcuate, almost reaching anterior margin of prothorax, slender in females, slightly arcuate; segment 2 about ⅓ as long as 3, without apical projection; segments 3–11 short, impressed on basal half; segment 3 about ⅓ longer than 4–5, scarcely longer than 11; sensorial system present on apical third of segment 3, apical ⅔ of segments 4–5 and extending the entire length of segments 6–11, reaching the dorsal and ventral surfaces on segments 7–11. Prothorax broader than long, attenuated to apex and base, with one large, obtuse tubercle on each side at middle. Pronotum with four gibbosities, two antemedian, proximate, and two lateral, near base; disk depressed on each side, between anterior and basal gibbosities. Prosternum with sexual punctation in males; intercoxal process half as wide as one procoxa, parallelsided and somewhat prominent between procoxae, abruptly declivous, vertical behind. Scutellum triangular, depressed medially. Elytra about 3,5 times as long as prothorax, feebly semicircular at base, humeri slightly prominent; uniformly, densely punctate, punctures moderately coarse, not seriate; apices conjointly rounded, feebly projected at sutural angle. Femora thickened. Meso and metafemora spinose at inner apices; mesofemora subclavate; me tafemora linear, not reaching elytral apices in male, conspicuously shorter in female, with asperate, dense punctures provided with short, erect setae on apical ⅔ of dorsal surface.

Remarks. Exallancyla View in CoL is similar to Callancyla Aurivillius View in CoL , sharing the broad prothorax, the elongate, thickened scape and the uniformly, densely punctate elytra, with the punctures not seriate. It differs from Callancyla View in CoL by the combination of: prothorax tuberculate at sides; antennae shorter than body in males, with segments short, expanded apically and diminishing in length from third, impressed medially at basal half; femora enlarged, the hind femora at most reaching elytral apices.

Etymology. The epithet is a combination of Callancyla View in CoL with the Greek word exallos, meaning different.

Description. Male. Integument orangish red, scutellum and elytra dark blue with metallic reflections, urosternites and tarsi dark brown. Head coarsely, densely, shallowly punctate, with short, erect, whitish hairs. Genae sparsely punctulate. Mandibles with dense, coarse punctures. Antennal scape opaque, coarsely, densely punctate; segments 3–11 subopaque, almost impunctate, subglabrous, with a few, long, orangish hairs. Pronotum and sides of prothorax shiny, sparsely punctulate, with short, erect, orangish hairs. Prosternum on each side with one large, opaque, densely, coarsely punctate patch, clothed with dense, whitish pubescence. Meso and metasterna sparsely punctulate; pilosity whitish, sparse. Elytra with short, sparse, erect, yellowish hairs. Legs with long, sparse, yellowish hairs. Metafemora bispinose at apex, outer spine short; inner apical spine longer than that of mesofemora and about as long as apical metafemora width. Urosternites with long, sparse, whitish hairs, densely pubescent at sides. Fifth urosternite feebly sinuous at apex.

Female. Similar to male. Metasternum, meso and metatibiae dark brown. Antennal scape shiny, short, feebly arcuate; segments 3–11 opaque, with orangish hairs twice as long as segment width at apex. Pronotum and sides of prothorax with numerous, very long, orangish hairs. Prosternum shallowly microcorrugate, shiny, sparsely punctate and pubescent. Meso and metafemora with inner apical spines longer than in male. Metafemora conspicuously shorter than elytral apices, lacking outer apical spine. Fifth urosternite roundedtruncate at apex.

Measurements, in mm, respectively for male/female: total length, 8.5–11.2/9.5–10.2; prothorax length, 1.8–2.1/1.8–2.0; prothorax width, 2.2–3.0/2.9–3.0; elytral length, 6.5– 7.5/7.0–7.5; humeral width, 2.5–3.5/3.0–3.2.
