Type material. Holotype ( Figs 1 View Figures 1–4 , 5 View Figures 5–8 ): male, “ Vietnam, Prov. Vinh Phu, Tam Dao , 60 km NW Hanoi, 950– 1200m, 23°34’N, 105°20’O [E], Juni [June], 1994, Sinajev [Sinyaev] & Simonov leg.”, gen. slide No.: MWM 35984 (prepared by Volynkin) (MWM/ ZSM). GoogleMaps
Paratypes: 4 males, the same data as the holotype GoogleMaps ; 1 male, Tam Dao, Tonkin (A. Duport) (MWM/ ZSM) .

Distribution. The new species is only known from North Vietnam (Vĩnh Phúc Province).
Etymology. ‘Paraxenos’ is a Latin transliteration of the Greek word ‘παράξενος’ meaning ‘strange’. The specific epithet refers to the peculiar structure of its aedeagus.
