Material studied. Holotype male. NEW CALEDONIA, Rivière Bleue N.P., (parc 7), rainforest, 21.vii.1992, Bonnet de Larbogne, Chazeau & Guilbert (in MNHN).

Description. Male. Head. Brown, antenna brown except scapus and pedicellus pale brown, flagellomere 1 and 2 yellow, maxillary palpus very pale brown. Eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. Face with 7 scattered longer and shorter setae. Clypeus with 3 setae. Maxillary palpus with 3 palpomeres; palpomere 3 longer than palpomere 1, palpomere 2 shortest; palpomere 1 with 3 setae, with a dorsal patch of sensilla; surface of antennal flagellomeres rough, flagellomere 4 2.3x as long as wide, the neck shorter than broad, the longest setae shorter than the width of flagellomere. Thorax. Brown, setae dark. Anterior pronotum with 5 setae. Episternum 1 with 7 setae. Scutum with short dorsocentrals, with 2–3 stronger laterals, scutellum with 2 longer and some short setae. Wing. Hyalinous. Length ca. 1.5 mm. In poor condition in the specimen studied; veins distinct. c/ w 0.60. r-m and than bM subequal in length, both r-m and bM non-setose. Halter pale brown. Legs. Yellow. Coxal setae pale. Front tibial organ with pale fine vestiture forming a small patch. Front tibial spur slightly longer than the tibial width. Claws with teeth. Abdomen. Brown, setae dark. Gonocoxa longer than gonostylus, mesial margin sparse setosity. basally with a densely setose lobe. Gonostylus narrow and curved, with the mesial side impressed; with a dense apical vestiture, with 3-4 slen- der megasetae on apical half, with a long subapical whiplash seta. Tegmen laterally straight, with a long sclerotized apical process.

Discussion. See under Pseudolycoriella capillosa .

Etymology. The name is Latin, pallidula , somewhat pale, referring to the rather pale colour of the fly.
