TYPE SPECIES: Hesperomys nudicaudus Peters, 1866 .

COMMENTS: Tribal-level membership unresolved; closely related to Ototylomys (see remarks under same). Basic revision much needed; forms listed follow Hall (1981:626), who remarked that "study...may show that some of the species are only subspecies."
