TYPE LOCALITY: Solomon Isis, Guadalcanal Isl, Aola .

DISTRIBUTION: Endemic to Guadalcanal Isl.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Cyromys . Although originally described as a species of Uromys , it was transferred to Melomys ( Ellerman, 1941; Rümmler, 1938), placed back in Uromys ( Tate, 1951) , again put in Melomys ( Laurie and Hill, 1954) , and has currently been returned to Uromys ( Flannery and Wickler, 1990; Groves and Flannery, in litt.).
