TYPE LOCALITY: Australia, Northern Territory, 35 miles SW of Alroy, 800 ft (see Mahoney and Richardson, 1988:166) .
DISTRIBUTION: Australia; Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, and W Queensland (see map in Watts and Aslin, 1981:109).
SYNONYMS: everardensis, reginae.
COMMENTS: Of all the species of Notomys , N. alexis has the most extensive geographic range ( Watts and Aslin, 1981). Variation in sperm head morphology documented by Breed and Sarafis (1983).
