DISTRIBUTION: Endemic to Taiwan.

COMMENTS: Musser (1981 b) included a population from N Burma, but its relationship to other groups of large-bodied Niviventer , especially, N. coxingi , is unclear. Whether N. coxingi is an insular form of populations now found in the mountains of Indochina or is simply a large-bodied insular derivative of mainland N. fulvescens will have to be evaluated in context of critical systematic revision ( Musser, 1981b).
