Limnonectes shompenorum Das, 1996 View in CoL

( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 b)

Material examined. MNHN 2003.3377 (adult female; SVL 80.1 mm), between Lubuksao and Mukomuko, Province of Sumatera Barat, elev. ca. 430m.

Taxonomic comments. The specimen has dorsal skin, webbing and body size similar to Limnonectes shompenorum described by Das (1996). This species is close to some of the specimens of Boulenger’s Rana macrodon var. blythii ( Boulenger 1920) , in particular specimens from Tenasserim, Siam, Larut Hills and Penang Hills which are similar in size, head width and tibia length to the specimen from Sumatera Barat. Thus Limnonectes shompenorum should be present in Peninsular Malaysia.

Distribution on Sumatra. Provinces of Aceh, Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Barat, Riau, Bengkulu, and Sumatera Selatan.

Biology. This specimen was collected in an ancient rice field, at the edge of a forest. It was active during a rainy night of August.
