Cheiroseius sectatus nom. nov. ( new replacement name)
Platyseius (Cheiroseius) insculptus Bernhard, in Westerboer, 1963: 331 (preoccupied by Cheiroseius insculptus (Keegan, 1946: 73)) .
TYPE DEPOSITORY: Not stated.
TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: Type locality not stated, on damp moss and chaff.
NOTE: Karg (1971, 1993) considered Platyseius (Cheiroseius) insculptus Bernhard to be a synonym of Cheiroseius necorniger Oudemans. Bernhard had distinguished P. (C.) insculptus from P. (C.) necorniger by the presence of only one pair of interstitial platelets between the ventrianal and genital shields, the incision in the anterior margin of the ventrianal shield and the strongly pronounced sculpturing of the podonotal area of the dorsal shield. We have provisionally accepted those differences treating Platyseius (Cheiroseius) insculptus Bernhard as a valid species. Its name is a junior homonym of Cheiroseius insculptus ( Keegan, 1946) , and we here propose the new replacement name Cheiroseius sectatus nom. nov. (sectus, cut, referring to the incision in the anterior margin of the ventrianal shield).
