( Figs 10, 11 View FIGURES 8 – 13 , 14−18 View FIGURES 14 – 18 , 24 View FIGURES 23 − 24 , 28 View FIGURES 26 – 29 )

Sandrabatis crassiella Ragonot, 1893 View in CoL (nec): Inoue, 1955: 135; 1982, 1: 391, 2: 250; 2013, 4: 357; Choi, et. al., 1998: 25; Bae, 2004: 94; Bae, 2008: 294. Misidentification.

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to I. fastigipalpa Ren & Li sp. nov., but can be distinguished by the forewing with dense scales area grayish black; the gnathos with medial lobe slightly longer than lateral lobe, the aedeagus with dense short thorns forming a semi-ring near apex in the male genitalia; and the corpus bursae with a long, strongly sclerotized, handle-like process on posterior margin in the female genitalia. In I. fastigipalpa Ren & Li sp. nov., the forewing dense scales area is black in anterior 1/3, grayish black in posterior 2/3, yellowish white at borderline; medial lobe of the gnathos is twice length of lateral lobe, the aedeagus has dense short thorns forming two triangular areas near apex in the male genitalia; and the corpus bursae has no process in the female genitalia. It is also extremely similar to I. sutasoma , but the hooked process at the end of sacculus of the valva, and the handlelike process on the corpus bursae distinguish the new species from I. sutasoma .

Description. Wingspan 18.0−26.5 mm. Male ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 8 – 13 ): Vertex with long, black scales, mixed with yellowish white on outside, arranged in two whorls. Antenna with scape twice as long as wide, basely with blackish brown long scale tufts on dorsal surface, yellowish white on ventral surface; flagellum coppery brown, sinus gentle, with black, vertical arranged scale tufts, and a row of short, black toothlet under scale tufts. Labial palpus yellowish white; second segment elongate, vertically upturned, 3.0 times length of diameter of compound eye; third segment short, slightly bend forward, about 1/15 length of second segment. Maxillary palpus yellowish white. Patagium, tegula and thorax grayish brown. Forewing ground color yellowish brown, mixed with blackish brown, white and reddish brown scales; basal 1/4 with dense, thick, grayish black scales; antemedian line and discal spot absent; postmedial line grayish white, sinuate, margined with black on both sides, angled inward at R4 and CuA2; terminal line black; cilia yellowish brown. Hindwings grayish brown, opaque; cilia yellowish white. Foreleg reddish brown, bearing a tuft of long scales; midleg grayish brown; hindleg yellowish white, tibia with long scales on dorsal surface. Abdominal segments yellowish brown on dorsal surface, yellowish white on ventral surface; anal tuft yellowish white.

Female ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 8 – 13 ): Vertex with yellowish white lobate scales, mixed with ochreous brown. Antenna with scape twice as long as wide, yellowish white to ochreous brown; flagellum yellowish brown to fuscous brown. Labial palpus yellowish white, mixed with reddish brown scales; second segment 1.6 times length of diameter of compound eye; third segment about half length of second segment, pointed at apex. Maxillary palpus yellowish white. Patagium yellowish white to reddish brown, tegula and thorax grayish brown to reddish brown. Forewing dark brown, mixed with numerous reddish brown scales on lower half and beyond postmedial line, tinged with yellowish white near dorsum; antemedian line absent; discal spots blackish brown, fused into club-shape; postmedial line grayish white, sinuate, margined with black on both sides, angled inward at R4 and CuA2; terminal line black; cilia brown. Hindwings grayish brown, opaque; cilia yellowish white. Legs gray, mottled grayish white; tarsi with two lines of black spines. Abdominal segments ocherous yellow, mixed with brown on dorsal surface.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 23 − 24 ). Uncus triangular, rounded at apex, evenly bearing dense, short setae. Gnathos trilobate, anchor-shaped, lateral lobes crescent, medial lobe slightly longer than lateral lobe. Transtilla weakly sclerotized. Valva broad in basal 2/5, narrowed from 2/5 to 4/5, slightly broadened in distal 1/5, triangularly protruded ventral-apically; bearing dense long hair in distal 1/5 and along dorsal margin of sacculus; costa strongly sclerotized, about half width of valva, archedly concave medially; sacculus strongly sclerotized, 3/5 length of valva, with a strong hooked process distally. Vinculum U-shaped, 1.3 times as long as wide. Juxta U-shaped, shield-shaped on median area, with a pair of fingerlike lateral lobes bearing sparse setae. Aedeagus cylindrical, stout, strongly sclerotized, about 1.2 times length of valva, with dense short thorns forming a semi-ring near apex; cornuti comprised of numerous spinule and sclerotized crimples, arranging in wheatear-shape: an arched, spined band at basal 1/4, a sinuate band bearing subuliform thorns from basal 1/3 to distal 1/3, one or two irregular sclerite at distal 1/4. Culcita four pairs, three-dimensional arranged.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 26 – 29 ). Antrum twice wider than long, protruded and punctate on lateral sides. Ductus bursae membranous in posterior 1/3, weakly sclerotized in anterior 2/3, punctate on inner wall. Corpus bursae membranous in anterior half, sclerotized in posterior half, with a line of long bodkin-shaped spines medially, dense small spines on junction between ductus bursae and corpus bursae, with a long, strongly sclerotized, handle-like process on posterior margin. Caudal bursa protruded between handle-like process and ductus bursae. Ductus seminalis incepted end of caudal bursa.
