Type: — BRAZIL. Bahia: Ruy Barbosa, Serra do Orobó , topo da Serra, 12°18’45’’S, 40°28’51’’W, 1015 m, 12 November 2004 (fl), L. P. de Queiroz et al. 9747 (holotype: HUEFS!; isotypes: K!, RB!) GoogleMaps .

Emended description: —Multi-stemmed shrub, densely branched from the base. Leaves 7–17 × 2–6 mm, elliptic, length/width ratio 3:1, margin irregularly crenulate, the crenulae more spaced basally and closer distally, ca. 90° to the branch. Panicles ca. 70-flowered (based on the pedicel scars along the racemose axes). Flowers without filamentous external staminodes or these irregularly appearing in some flowers of the same individual; anthers bi-apiculate.
