Based on morphological and molecular data of this medusa, recorded in the MP from Baja California Sur as Lobonemidae sp. 1 ( Gómez Daglio and Dawson 2017). However, a more detailed morphological description and molecular analysis with a larger number of specimens are needed. Currently, the family is considered valid by Jarms and Morandini (2019) and WoRMS Editorial Board 2023).
