Description. Male. Body medium, wingless. Frons smooth. Fastigium verticis about 1.4 times as width as scape ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Eyes ovoid; ocelli inconspicuous. Scape slightly longer than the length of eyes, pedicel about two thirds the length of scape ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Apical segment of maxillary palpi slightly as long as subapical one, apex slightly inflated. Anterior margin of pronotum projected in the middle, posterior margin truncate, lateral lobes longer than deep, ventral margin undulating, humeral sinus absent ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ). Fore coxae with 1 small spine; fore and middle femora unarmed on ventral surface. Hind femora with 4–5 robust spines on internal margin, the apical two spines obviously longer than others ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ); external margin with 2 spines positioned subapically. Fore tibiae with 5 pairs of spines (including 1 pair of apical spines), apical spines minute; middle tibiae with 4 pairs of spines but smaller in size; hind tibiae arched curved, dorsal surface of with 3–4 tubercle swellings, apices with 1 pair of dorsal spines and 2 pairs of ventral spines ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ). Second and third abdominal tergites with 2 rows of transverse stridulatory teeth on lateral margins separately. Apical area of ninth abdominal tergite projecting downwards, posterior margin with 1 deep concavity, the lateral lobes spine-shaped, its apices directing inwards ( Fig. 1E View FIGURE 1 ). Tenth abdominal tergite interrupted in the middle. Cerci short, conical, its apex acute. Basal margin of male subgenital plate almost straight, posterior margin with 1 U-shaped concavity, the lateral margins forming 2 lobes slightly directing inwards ( Fig. 1G View FIGURE 1 ), apical areas of the lobes bifurcate ( Fig. 1F View FIGURE 1 ).

Female. Unknown.

Coloration. Body yellowish brown. Eyes brown. Face black, which continues with median black stripe of occiput ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Pronotum with black margins and median stripe ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ). Apices of fore and middle femora blackish; fore and hind tibiae, basal and apical area of middle tibiae black; all spines blackish; all tergites black brown ( Fig. 1D–E View FIGURE 1 ).

Measurements (mm). BL: 18.5, PL: 4.7, HFL: 11.6.

Material examined. Holotype: male, Gaoligongshan, Tengcong , Yunnan, 9 August, 2009, Qiu Ming & Li Ruilian.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Etymology. Name derived from Latin nigr plus front, referring to the black face.

Discussion. The species appears to be very closely related to Apterolarnaca ulla Gorochov, 2004 , differing primarily from the latter in: frons black, occiput and pronotum with broader black stripe, and hind tibiae black.
