Distribution. Western Atlantic—Bermuda, USA (Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, Brazil (Paraíba, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo) ( Chace 1956, as Synalpheus townsendi scaphoceris ; Christoffersen 1979; Dardeau 1986; Anker et al. 2012).
Previous records. no material provided ( Christoffersen 1998).
Remarks. Christoffersen (1998) recorded the species to São Paulo without designating the examined material. Based on our sampling, we confirm the occurrence of the species in São Paulo. GenBank accession number: CCDB 4859—16S ( KU312989 View Materials ), COI ( KU313017 View Materials ).
