Material examined. HOLOTYPE male 99 / 58, with dissected genitalia and right tegmen slide, cave in Kookabinna Gorge, Barlee Ranges, 23ss40¾S, 116ss00¾E, central

Western Australia, hand collected, 15 January 1998, K. Armstrong, in WAM. PARATYPES: one female, two nymphs, same data as holotype, in WAM .

Distribution. Kookabinna Gorge, Barlee Ranges, Western Australia, known only from type locality.

Etymology. The species is named after the location of the holotype, Kookabinna Gorge.

Diagnosis. Pulvilli and arolia absent. Male: Apex of median phallomere enlarged, with small hook-like projection on left side (®gure 8). Right phallomere with cleft sclerite lined with single row of spines along border (®gure 8).

Description. Male: Reddish-brown. Pronotum parabolic, widest near base (®gure 4). Eyes reduced, base of eyes level with base of antennal sockets. Antennae as long as body. Tegmina reduced, reaching middle of T3 (®gure 5). Hind wings vestigial, reaching middle T1. Front femur Type A. Pulvilli and arolia absent. First

abdominal tergum with group of setae on anteromedial region and a few setae along anterior border (®gure 6). Seventh abdominal tergum unspecialized. Supraanal plate with sides and hind margin shallowly concave (®gure 7). Right paraproct with top half of lobed sclerite bearing long thin spines, bottom half with short thick spines, third sclerite with short thick spines at one end (®gure 7). Left paraproct keel shaped, with numerous short thin spines (®gure 7). Subgenital plate and styles symmetrical, base of styles curved inward and covered with numerous thick dark spines, plus dense group of short spines on dorsal surface of styles (®gure 8). Apex of median phallomere enlarged, with small hook-like projection on left side (®gure 8). Right phallomere with cleft sclerite lined with single row of spines along border, spines tapering from long, to short at distal end (®gure 8). Holotype BL: 15.5; PL: 3.8; PW: 4.7; EL: 1.2; EW: 0.6; TL: 4.9; TW: 3.3.

Female: Larger than male. Eyes reduced, level with base of antennal sockets. Tegmina reduced, reaching T3, hindwings vestigial. Supraanal plate trigonal, apex subtruncate. Subgenital plate broad, smoothly rounded. BL: 17.7; PL: 4.6; PW: 6.2; EL: 1.3; EW: 0.7; TL: 5.7; TW: 3.6.

Remarks. The specimens of P. kookabinnensis were found approximately 15 m within the cave, in a small chamber occupied by the Common Sheathtail bat, Taphozou s georgianu s.
