Melania (Melanoides) suifuensis Chen, 1937: 444–445 , figs. 1, 2–1 ("suifu"=Xuzhou District, Sichuan Province)

Material examined. 5 ex. NNUH20241501–05 . Lamei River , Shizong County, Qujing City , Yunnan Province, China; 24.61°N, 104.29°E, November 2023 by Cen- Song Yang GoogleMaps .

Locus typicus. Shizong County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province, China; 24.61°N, 104.29°E.

Etymology. We suggest the Chinese common name as " 叙州华ĸ ".

Description. Shell small, thick, solid, elongated conical, yellow, with purplish red stripe; shell comprising eight to nine whorls, sometimes with thick calcareous attachments. Some individuals shell surface near smooth, growth lines no obvious, without spiral ribs; some individuals shell surface with spiral ribs; some individuals shell surface with horizontal and spiral ribs. Body whorl swollen, taking up most of the shell about 47%. Suture low. Aperture ovate, lip thin, inner lip slightly thickened and smooth, white, outer lip grey. Umbilicus absent.

Operculum. ( Fig. 2 A View Figure 2 ) Ovate, smaller than aperture, corneous, thin, brown, length 2.92 mm, width 1.93 mm, and the nucleus located at the bottom left about 3/10.

Radula. ( Fig. 3 A View Figure 3 ) Central teeth with triangle-shaped pointed major cusp, and 3 smaller cusps on each side. Lateral teeth with rectangular major cusp, and 2–3 smaller cusps on each side. Inner marginal teeth with four and outer with five to six flattened, rounded denticles.

Anatomy. Snout, foot and tentacles orange-yellow. Snout broad, squarish, with long cephalic tentacles, tentacles greater than snout in length.

Remarks. Lateral teeth with rectangular major cusp of H. suifuensis , which is a significant feature that distinguishes other Hua species. Hua suifuensis . is most similar to H. intermedia (Gredler, 1885) , but can nevertheless be easily separated by the more elongated shell. The new species can also be clearly distinguished from other Hua congeners by the following features: Outer marginal teeth with ten to twelve flattened cusps (vs. less than or equal to five flattened cusps in H. tchangii ( Du, Köhler, Yu, Chen & Yang, 2019) , and H. textrix (Heude, 1889)) , body whorl swollen, taking up most of the shell about 47%, less than Hua tchangsii , Hua telonaria (Heude, 1889) .

Habitat and distribution. This species was collected in Lamei River, Shizong County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province. The species inhabits rivers with a depth of less than 30 cm, slow water flow, and a substrate made of stones and sand.
