Saldula sp. [published record not examined]
Salda saltatoria Linnaeus View in CoL : Puton (1881: 128), “Source du Barrada, plaine de Beka [= Beqa]”; Matocq & Azar (2023: 3), quotation of Puton (1881). Needing confirmation (see remarks).
Remarks. Lindskog (1995) wrote that old, unverified records of S. saltatoria (Linnaeus, 1758) from Israel, Syria and Egypt may possibly refer to an undescribed species (close to S. lindbergi Lindskog, 1975 ) known from Israel and Lebanon; thus, also this old record by Puton (1881) needs to be confirmed (see above the note to Saldula sp. cf. “undescribed species (close to S. lindbergi Lindskog )” above). However, further research is necessary to disentangle this doubt and exclude S. saltatoria from the fauna of Lebanon. A possible misidentification of the material quoted by Puton (1881) with S. lindbergi cannot be also excluded.
