Phaonia nymphaearum -group
Diagnosis. Male body black and shiny; frons narrow; lower facial margin not projecting; scutellum black; notopleuron with hairs; basisternum of prosternum bare; pra short, at most shorter than posterior notopleural seta; legs wholly black; mid tibia without pv; hind tibia without apical pv. This group is divided into two sub-groups: P. nymphaearum - subgroup and P. subpullata -subgroup.
